One week of MoFo!

One week of Vegan MoFo down!
I'm really proud of myself because I'm terrible at committing to things.  This is great because it's forcing me to eat fancier meals and get in the kitchen!

It also is forcing me to try something new and interesting.  Yesterday, my husband and I decided to go to the Asian market near our house.  It's huge, and it is super cheap.  We always want to go, but for some reason, we rarely do!

They have a ton of vegan mock meats, vegetables, different types of rice and noodles, pre-made sauces, and snacks from Asia.

We bought a ton of seitan which was so affordable!  We got four huge bags of stuff for $40!  It was pretty crazy.

Last night, we made seitan using the same spices as Loving Hut's lucky lemongrass "chicken"-  lemongrass, garlic, mushroom powder, chili flakes.  We fried the seitan in sesame oil, put it on a bed of rice, and topped it with sesame seeds.  Everything was delicious!

For dessert, we bought taro and purple turnip popsicles.  They were completely vegan, but creamy and refreshing.  Plus, they were a lovely shade of lavender which made them pretty appealing to eat.

Basically, check out your local ethnic and specialty markets.  You might be surprised how many affordable vegan foods that you can find!
